Ok, those of you who know me well know that I am trying to take August "off" with limited success. I am away for the month. I am with my amazing kids Jake and Lily, and we are getting more sun than incandescent light. But I have been doing a fair amount of work. Now I know I was more on vacation than I thought because I see in my calendar that Bob Glazer is scheduled to lead a Core Call this Wednesday but I have no info about what he is talking about. If I were guessing, it would be about his new book How to Make Virtual Teams Work: Manage and Empower a Virtual Team That Thrives While Working from Home which is smart and timely and hit the shelves and then flew right off. Bob - if you speaking is news to you and you show up... thanks! If you are expecting to speak - thanks! To everyone who attends (really worth it) thanks!
Increasing the Diversity of Corporate Boards:
Last week, Amii Barnard-Bahn was an invited panelist for a webinar hosted by California State Treasurer Fiona Ma on “What It Takes to Land a Corporate Board Seat.” Anyone wishing to view or share the webinar training can click here for the replay. More than six-hundred women registered for the nearly two-hour-long Zoom webinar. “The day has come for this push forward for women and people of color. We need trainings like this to ensure that those who want to be on a board have the benefit of being fully informed about how it is done,” Treasurer Ma said. While women generally are gaining more board seats – nationally they represented 24 percent of S&P 1500 corporate board directors in 2019, according to Institutional Shareholder Services (ISS) – African American, Asian, Hispanic, and Native American women represented only 3.5 percent of those board appointments.
